Doh! Another blow to End Times adherents

Just heard an interesting tidbit on NPR. It turns out that the number "666" has been getting a bad rap all these years, and that the number associated with "the Beast" is actually 616. An article in National Geographic explains that researchers have recently begun using a digital imaging system to read previously unreadable papyrus manuscripts, including third- and fourth-century versions of the Book of Revelations. According the article, these versions use the number 616, not 666.

I can only wonder how this little discrepancy will be explained in the next Left Behind book. Most likely, it'll just be ignored, like more and more scientific evidence (see Kansas and evolution) these days.
